The rainbow python, also known as the regenbogen python or scientific name Morelia spilota variegata, is a species of python that is native to Australia, specifically the eastern and northern regions. It is a non-venomous snake and is considered one of the most colorful snakes in the world, hence the name "rainbow" python.
The rainbow python can grow up to 3 meters (10 feet) in length and can weigh up to 15 kilograms (33 pounds). Its body is slender with a glossy appearance and covered in vibrant patchworks of black, white, yellow, and red coloration. The head of the rainbow python is also distinctive, with a triangular shape and prominent eyes.
Rainbow pythons are nocturnal and spend most of their time hiding in rocky outcroppings or burrows. They are also skilled climbers and can navigate trees in search of prey, which includes small mammals, birds, and reptiles. They are also known to be kept as pets but require an experienced owner who can provide them with adequate space, a proper diet, and a regulated temperature.
